In the heart of the Dolomites with the Sassolungo and the Sella Group situated right across the valley and at the threshold of the Nature Park Puez-Odle with its many beautiful walks. Our mountain hut, overlooking Val Gardena, is therefore the ideal stop for a snack or a tasty traditional dish accompanied by a house schnapps.
At the family-run Gamsblut Mountain Hut you also get in touch with the language of the locals: Ladin.
Whether up high in the mountains or in the valley, in Val Gardena there is party everywhere. The Col Raiser/Seceda ski area is famous for its sunny location and the great ski lodges. One is the Gamsblut Mountain Hut, situated directly on the slope. We invite you to chill out on our sun terrace enjoying your vacation with all senses.
One of the most beautiful hiking areas of Val Gardena is the Nature Park Puez-Odle, which comprises a largely rocky plateau characterized by exceptional beauty and rich flora and fauna. For hikers, climbers, walkers and mountain bikers the Gamsblut Mountain Hut is the perfect stopover. You can enjoy a wonderful view on the impressive Sassolungo and the mighty Sella Group. On our sun terrace you can plan the itinerary for your next excursion.
The area around the Gamsblut Mountain Hut offers many trails, adventures and a breathtaking scenery for all passionate mountain bikers.
Tour 1
Starting point: Santa Cristina. Take the road to Plesdinaz until you reach the car park Praplan/Runcaudie (please note: the road is very steep). From there take the trail no. 4 (forest road). The first part leads across a forest, then meadows will line the trail until the Gamsblut Mountain Hut. Duration: about 30 minutes from the parking area. You can of course extend the tour as you wish, as many other itineraries start from the Gamsblut Mountain Hut.
Tour 2
Starting point: San Giacomo, a beautiful hamlet above Ortisei. From there take the path n. 4 which takes you to the parking Praplan/Runcaudie. Then follow the directions as above. Very scenic bike tour.
Snowshoeing through the magical winter landscape of Val Gardena. Simply gorgeous! Fasten your snowshoes and go. You will be rewarded with delicious food and invigorating drinks at the Gamsblut Mountain Hut.
Tour 1
Walk or drive by car from Santa Cristina to Plesdinaz until the car park Praplan/Runcaudie (please note: the road is very steep). Once there, take the pedestrian and snowshoe trail no. 4 which begins below the forest road. The first part of the trail is uphill, then it flattens and you will quickly reach the Gamsblut Mountain Hut. Duration: about 50 minutes from the parking area. You can of course extend the tour as you wish, as many other itineraries start from the Gamsblut Mountain Hut.
Tour 2
From Selva Gardena to the Juac Mountain Hut and on to the Gamsblut Mountain Hut (about 1 hour and 45 minutes). Return via the pedestrian and snowshoe trail no. 4 to Santa Cristina (parking Praplan/Runcaudie). From there walk down to the centre.
Don’t miss our speciality: chamois sausages (“Gams” is the German word for “chamois”), typical South Tyrolean bread and our house liquor. Everything is served with a breathtaking panoramic view on the surrounding mountains. This is pure vacation!
The Gamsblut Mountain Hut is a popular hiking destination for families. In summer, the children can play hide and seek in the adjacent woods, walk barefoot in the creek, run on the sunny meadow or play soccer. Your kids will have a blast!
The hut was build in the 1967 from the family Runngaldier Matteo (Bera Moz). The alpine wood which were taken was from the 18 Jh.. Grandpa's passion for hunting, nature and mountains brings him to give the name Gamsblut (local hunting language) Son Oswald with unkle Luca rebuild the Gamsblut 2013. Fine "comfort" with good Ladin style.
